Blackjack Tips

It is important to remember that strategies and tips when playing any variation of any game will only get you so far. There is always a certain amount of luck that is involved with playing, but the more you understand the methods of the game, the more you can get that luck to work in your favor.

The fact of the matter is that the game will always favor the dealer, but there are things that you can do that will help you gain an edge over the house. If you and the dealer both bust, you both lose. If you bust you lose. If the dealer gets one more point than you, that’s right, you lose. So with so many opportunities for you to lose, it is a wonder anyone plays at all.

But keeping that in mind, there are things that you can do to help yourself out a little. First, you want to make sure that the minimum on the table that you are playing at is no more than 5% of the total amount that you have to wager. You also want to look at the kind of table that it is does it allow doubling down, and if so can you do it on any two cards? How about the dealer having to stand on a soft 17? These are the things that you want to look at as they will help you improve your advantage.

For example, let’s say that the dealer has to hit on anything lower than 16 that is the rule for most live and online casinos. But, let’s say that they have to stick on a 17 well that will help you determine whether or not you want to stand or keep going depending on the amount that you are holding in your hand. You can use your strategy chart to determine what your best move might be, as that will help you increase the percentage of your wins as well.

As far as Doubling Down goes, some will only let you make this move on a certain card or cards, while others will let you do it with two cards of any type. If you have the option of Doubling Down whenever you get any two cards keep in mind that doubling with an 8 or 7 is a no-brainer if the dealer has a card showing that is equal or lower to that value. You should also know that splitting 10’s or 5’s is always frowned upon, and if you have two aces you always split them. But splitting face cards is always a bad idea for you to have a score of 20 sitting in front of you.

You also want to make sure that you take care of your dealer for that will benefit you greatly. The best way to get a dealer to not like you is to ignore their hard work behind the table and not tip them. Sometimes referred to as a “toke” it is always a good idea to keep the dealer on your side, for otherwise, they will not have your best interests at heart. If you are winning big then a nice tip is appropriate every few hands, but if you are not, then even a dollar goes a long way to making your dealer feel appreciated. You can also turn it into a side bet where if you put it in front of your wagering circle and you win, you give them extra to make them part of the win.

Once you have mastered the basics of the game, you are going to want to start looking into card counting for that will help reduce your edge as well. It is not illegal, but it is frowned upon by the big casinos. But when you are dealing with an online gambling casino, let’s face it, they don’t know whether you are counting or not. As more of a professional, you will also take note of the different variations of blackjack games that there are, and you might find that you want to focus on one more than the others and greatly improve your skills in a certain type of game. Blackjack dealers will also tell you that playing at a table that just has you and a dealer is the best possible scenario which is why so many of them favor internet gambling because they don’t have to worry about someone else messing up the hand for the rest of the people.
