Make sure, the next time you play baccarat, you win. Casino Gambling Reviews brings you baccarat rules. A separate casino space is allotted to this game, the baccarat table resembling a craps table with 3 casino dealers and something between 12 and 14 players. You can make 2 bets in Baccarat: viz. the banker and the player. Banco and Punto bets, as they are known, are sometimes accompanied by the rarely used Standoff bet. Some casinos allow the players to deal the cards, whereas others have a casino dealer to deal them. Online Baccarat players are dealt cards automatically by a virtual dealer.

Each baccarat player, including the dealer, may bet on the Punto or the Banco bets. However, it is customary to bet on the Banco type of wager. Players may opt not to deal, and pass the ‘Shoe’ to the next player in the line. The shoe remains with a player as long as the Bank wins, and passes on to the next if the Punto wins. There are 2 hands to be dealt; you can either bet on the hand which will win, or the one that will tie. Similar to Black or Red betting at roulette, the payoff in baccarat is even money, 1:1. A win on the Banco costs you a 5% commission or tax that is levied by the casino. This is the in-built advantage.

The Banco bet is taxed because it has been established that over an 8-deck cards play, the Banco wins 3 to 4 hands more than the Punto. A typical baccarat hand consists of 2 to 3 cards. The dealer puts 2 cards face down, tucked under the shoe, and gives the player the largest Punto bet on the other 2, face down. Then the Punto player looks at the cards and returns them to the dealing player, who then turns them over both hands while the second dealer announces the results and who the winner is.

According to casino games guides, if either hand has a total of 8 or 9 (highest) hands, it is called a ‘Natural’; then no further cards are dealt. If the hand is not a natural, the casino dealer instructs the card dealer to deal a 3rd card, depending on the card’s hand value. The decision when to deal a 3rd card follows precise rules.
