Playing online blackjack has many of the same similarities as playing in a live casino. The rules of the game might vary by site, but the overall feel and playing of the game are the same. There are some obvious differences due to the fact that you are playing on a computer or handheld device, but otherwise, if you know and understand how to play blackjack at a casino, the online version will not be all that different.

First, you want to ensure that you understand the purpose of the game. You are trying to get to a point total of 21 in order to get “blackjack.” If you go over you automatically lose, and if you are too far under you will lose as well. You have to get higher than the dealer in order to win. Many people will get to somewhere around 17 or 18 and stand, or not take any more cards, in hopes that the dealer will have less than them or will have “busted” or gone over the magic number of 21.

First, you place your bet by choosing the appropriate option on the screen. Then, click the “deal” button and you will get two cards on the screen that you can see. These are both your cards.

Then you will see two more cards dealt with the dealer and only one of these will be visible to you. If you have 21 without asking to be given any more cards, you will have what is referred to as a natural blackjack and you will be paid out usually something similar to 3:2. If the dealer has the same cards you get your bet back or a “push” which means that two naturals were dealt no one wins or loses. You can then choose to walk away or play another hand.

If this does not happen, you will simply ask for cards that will bring you up to or close to a score of 21. You ask to “hit” or be given more cards until you decide to “stand” or not take any more cards. If you go over you will “bust” and lose the hand. If you are under, the dealer will try to beat your hand without also “busting” so that they can win at A few more things you need to know about:

Split: This is when you have two cards dealt with you that are the same face value. You can play them as is, or you can hit the “split” button so that you are playing two hands instead of one. You will have an equal bet on both hands and they will be played as though they were two separate bets.

Double Down: This means that you are doubling your original bet and if you win you will get a 3:2 payout on the win. However, you will only receive one more card and you will have to stand on it and hope that you win.

Insurance: This option is only available if the dealer’s upcard is an ace. If you take the insurance and you lose, in other words, the dealer gets blackjack, you do not lose your bet. When playing at an internet gambling site it is easier to play in many ways as you do not have the distractions of other players, so many times it is a more enjoyable and fruitful game. Either way, if you incorporate the proper strategies you will undoubtedly be successful.
